Sunday 10th November 2024
At 1100 hours, members of Cleveland MRT gathered for our annual Remembrance Day walk to the site of a Second World War aircraft crash site, on the path up towards Captain Cook’s Monument, to pay our respects to all those who have sacrificed so much in the service of their country.
Thanks to our colleagues Kath who organised our attendance and recited the Ode of Remembrance and to Andy who laid the wreath on behalf of the Team. Also to Austen for his stirring rendition of a ballad which was originally written to commemorate those who fell in the First Word War and which is still apt today.
Also many, many thanks to those members of the public including runners and walkers who stopped to pay their respects.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
