Search – Bank Foot / Ingleby Bank area

THURSDAY 8TH AUGUST 2024 (1017 HOURS)

We were contacted by North Yorkshire Police. They had received a report from a walker who had heard shouts (possibly for help) between Bank Foot and Ingleby Incline, approximately 7-Km south-east of Stokesley.

We deployed our volunteers to investigate, taking both of our Land Rovers and later our Incident Control Vehicle. Initial searches of tracks and paths were made on foot and by vehicle, before searches were expanded into the forestry areas below Ingleby Moor. Search dogs / handlers from three mountain rescue teams in the north-east region subsequently joined the search.

Following extensive searching and after updating the Police that there had been no sign, nor indication of anyone in distress we stood down from the search. Twenty Cleveland MRT members were involved for just over 7.5-hours when stood-down, plus extra time back at Base cleaning kit and vehicles etc.

Many thanks to Mountain Rescue Search Dogs England (North East) for their support in supplying dogs / handlers from Northumberland National Park Mountain Rescue Team, North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team and Teesdale and Weardale Search and Mountain Rescue Team plus offers of dogs from other teams if required.
