SATURDAY 8TH JUNE 2024 (1635 HOURS)
Our personnel covering the Ardmoors mountain bike event at Lordstones Country Park, were alerted to a report of an injured mountain biker (not connected with the event). He had taken a tumble on one of the tracks below the Cleveland Way at Kirby Bank, about 1.5-Kms east of Lordstones Cafe.
Some people were diverted from the Ardmoors whilst those who had just returned back to Base and elsewhere following the previous call-out (22/2024) were turned out again. The rider was treated by Team members for a serious leg injury before we stretchered (and wheeled) him for 1-Km to a Team Land Rover. He was then driven to the RV-point at Beak Hills Farm where we transferred him to an ambulance – the same YAS crew who we had worked with in the previous call at Scugdale!
We wish him well for his recovery. Many thanks to everyone at Beak Hills Farm who, as ever, were very helpful in permitting us to park in their yard and access across their land.
This time twenty-five Cleveland MRT members were involved for approximately 2-hours before again leaving (some to rejoin the Ardmoors event) and eventually everyone got back to Base and their homes.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
