SATURDAY 8TH JUNE 2024 (1310 HOURS)
Calls from North Yorkshire Police and the Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) alerted us to a fallen climber in Scugdale near Swainby. The climber had sustained potentially serious injuries and after treatment by the YAS crew and Team members, we secured him within a vacuum mattress and carried him on a rescue stretcher to the top of the crag. We then transferred him to a Yorkshire Air Ambulance helicopter and gave him our best wishes for his recovery process before he was then flown to hospital.
Eighteen Cleveland MRT members were involved for approximately 2.5-hours before some rejoined the Ardmoors event at Lordstones Country Park (where they had been providing event cover), whilst others returned to Base and/or their homes. They had little time to rest before the next call
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
