WEDNESDAY 13TH MARCH 2024 (1339 HOURS)
We were contacted by the North East Ambulance Service regarding a casualty with a potentially serious leg injury after falling in Chatham Woods, to the north-west of Egglescliffe. Team members and a Land Rover were deployed to an RV-point at Burnwood Bridge carpark.
Upon arrival the casualty had received treatment from the NEAS crew so we placed her onto a rescue stretcher, wrapped her within a warming casualty bag and carried / wheeled her for approximately 600-metres to the waiting ambulance for onward treatment at hospital. We wish her for a swift recovery. Sixteen Team members were involved in the incident for approximately 2.5-hours by the time they had returned to Base, homes and places of work.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
