WE ARE NOW RECRUITING

Applications are invited from people wishing to join Cleveland MRT as Search & Rescue members. The application process and the requirements for becoming a member of the Team are outlined in more detail on the ‘Joining The Team’ page on our website (link below). Please read the information on that page thoroughly before submitting an application. Then, if you wish to continue, you should register your interest via the ‘Recruitment’ email address provided on that page.

Two recruitment ‘open sessions’ will be held at our Base near Great Ayton – Saturday 10th February 2024 (1000-1200) and Wednesday 13th March 2024 (1930-2130). They are opportunities to learn about what we do and to talk with Team members about their role and what is involved. They are also a great opportunity to get further information about the application and the assessment process (including things like navigation assessments – don’t be put off, come and find out what that entails!).

If you wish to apply to join YOU MUST ATTEND ONE OF THESE SESSIONS (you must first register your interest using the recruitment email address via the above link, please do not just ‘turn up’ at these sessions).

Subject to an assessment of your application form, you may be invited to an assessment day on Sunday 30th June 2024 – YOU MUST BE ABLE TO ATTEND ON THAT DAY. Times are to be confirmed but provisionally 0900-1500.

If successful on the assessment day, you will then be required to attend training sessions as a ‘prospective member’ for a period of 10-12 weeks between September and December 2024, normally held every Wednesday evening plus at least one weekend. If you cannot commit to the majority of those sessions then you must not apply! At the end of that initial training period your progress will be considered by the Team Committee and if satisfactory you will progress to ‘probationary status’ in early 2025.

Before submitting an application you must appreciate that the time commitment required of our members is very significant and it should not be underestimated! The closing date for receipt of application forms is 31st March 2024 – but remember the requirement to attend one of the open sessions before then.
