Search – Great Ayton

SATURDAY 18TH NOVEMBER 2023

We were called out in the early hours by North Yorkshire Police to help search for a missing vulnerable lady from Great Ayton. Overnight our members and Police officers were supported by a Coastguard helicopter. Just after 9am the Police informed us that the lady had been found by local residents, outside of our search area. She was subsequently examined by one of our Team doctors and although she was cold and wet when found she was soon well enough to be taken home into the care of her family.

Many thanks to Mountain Rescue Search Dogs England who sent four search dogs / handlers from Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team, Cave Rescue Organisation and North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team and also to Scarborough and Ryedale Mountain Rescue Team as they were sending 15 of their members to help with the search when stood down.

Well done to the local residents for finding the lady and looking after her until the Police arrived. Eighteen Cleveland MRT members were deployed, most for approximately 8-hours.
