THURSDAY 29TH JUNE 2023 (2005 HOURS)
Called by the Yorkshire Ambulance Service to a report of a young girl having sustained a leg injury after falling from a tree in the Osmotherley area. A Team Land Rover and several Team members were dispatched from various locations.
When the Land Rover crew arrived they were able to unlock the gates at the south end of Cod Beck Reservoir to then drive along the track on the dam wall. That allowed us to get very close to where the casualty was already being treated by the YAS crew, who had walked in from the roadside. They were then able to relocate their ambulance to that location and, once she had been checked over by a Team Doctor, we carried her on a scoop stretcher a very short distance to the nearby ambulance. We wish her well for a speedy recovery.
Seventeen Team members were involved for approximately 1.5-hours plus travel time back to homes and our Base.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
