THURSDAY 8TH JUNE 2023 (1226 HOURS)
Our fourth call-out the week! Requested by the Yorkshire Ambulance Service to support one of their crews en route to a report of a woman with a lower leg injury after a fall on land approximately 2-miles south-west of Glaisdale village. A Yorkshire Air Ambulance helicopter was also on the way.
Two Team Land Rovers with six personnel onboard were sent from our Base and, as usual, other members made their own way there. After assessment and treatment by the YAS and YAA crews the casualty was loaded onto an ambulance scoop-stretcher and carried by Team members for approximately 100-metres up a grass slope to a waiting land ambulance for onward treatment at hospital. We wish her well for her recovery. Seventeen members were involved, although some were stood down before they arrived, as there were sufficient numbers on scene. The incident lasted for approximately 1.5-hours plus return travel time back to Base, homes and work.
No photos of the Team in action but here’s a couple of ambulance and helicopter shots instead!
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
