TUESDAY 17TH JANUARY 2023
A very brief call-out for our first one of the year, lasting only 20-minutes. We were contacted in the afternoon by North Yorkshire Police to go the aid of two ladies who were stranded at Hob Hole near Castleton. They were unable to make progress in their car due to the icy conditions. One of our Team members (who was not far away) started to make his way to their location and two others drove to our Base to collect a Land Rover.
However, they were soon stood-down after our call-out officer contacted one of the ladies. Fortunately, they were both safe and well having been helped by three gentlemen passing by, who used their Land Rover to move them clear, thereby allowing them to head home. Four Team members were involved (with others on standby).
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
