Many, many thanks to the people of Northallerton and visitors to the town who so generously donated to the Team at our traditional pre-Christmas street collection. Our members were out in force with collection tins and buckets along the High Street. We collected a truly overwhelming £1,679 (plus 4 Euros) all of which will go directly towards funding next year’s running costs, which average around £42,000 per year.
Our members are used to cold and frosty conditions but normally that’s when walking on the hills or carrying rescue equipment (and casualties). Standing still in the High Street was a good test of warm boots and socks plus numerous layers of clothing. All helped by some welcome offers of hot drinks and snacks from Mitchell’s Newsagents, Waterstones Northallerton, Save the Children UK Northallerton and MAXWELLS of NORTHALLERTON – apologies if we’ve forgotten anyone!
Once again, huge thanks to everyone who donated and for the many words of support and encouragement about our work.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
