SATURDAY 15th OCTOBER 2022 (1234 HOURS)
We were contacted by the Yorkshire Ambulance Service regarding a walker who had been taken ill near to Captain Cook’s Monument, east of Great Ayton.
Two Team Land Rovers were sent from our Base with other members separately making their way to a nearby RV-point at Gribdale Gate carpark. Meanwhile our call-out officer was able to contact a member of the walking party to establish the casualty’s condition and to clarify his location. The first Team members were soon with him and after assessment he was deemed well enough to be walked a short distance to one of our Land Rovers and then driven down to Gribdale Gate carpark and into the care of the ambulance crew.
Seventeen Team members either attended the call-out or were en route when stood-down. It lasted approximately 1.5-hours including return travel time.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
