Monday June26th 21:30hrs Search Eryholme Near Darlington.
We were asked by North Yorkshire Police to help in the search for a missing 59 year old vulnerable lady missing from her home in the village of Eryholme. As the search area would include the nearby River Tees our water assets were also deployed (specially trained and equipped team members who can work near and in water). As we were on route to the incident the missing lady was found on the river bank by locals who had been searching for her and the Police Helicopter.
The Fire and Rescue Service from Darlington evacuated her from the area to a waiting ambulance as we stood by in case of need.
The incident lasted for 2 1/2 hours and involved 12 of us.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
