Our fifth call-out in the space of four days this lunchtime when we went to assist our colleagues from Swaledale MRT with an injured walker just over the border in their area. Given the location it was felt sensible for both Teams to respond – and Teesdale and Weardale Search & MRT were also on standby. Casualty subsequenty evacuated to an ambulance.
A good example of joint working between neighbouring mountain rescue teams and the Yorkshire Ambulance Service. Five Cleveland MRT members attended for approximately 2.25 hours including return travel time.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
