Rescue – Arden Great Moor

FRIDAY 10TH JUNE 2022 (1228 HOURS)

North Yorkshire Police contacted us at lunchtime today regarding a lone runner who had reportedly suffered a leg injury whilst she was running on the North York Moors south-east of Osmotherley (in the Black Hambleton / Arden Great Moor area).

Our call-out officer phoned the runner who had earlier provided a What3Words location to her husband. However she had since moved from that point but having then suffered a reoccurrence of a knee problem she was now unable to continue hence the call for assistance. We used the mountain rescue Phone Find system to pinpoint her new location and dispatched two triple-crewed rescue Land Rovers. Other members were directed to a nearby RV-point in case further assistance was required.

Just under one-hour after the first call, one of our Rover crews located the woman, assisted her into the vehicle and drove back along tracks onto the Cleveland Way and down Black Hambleton hill to reunite her with her husband at Square Corner.

The call-out lasted approximately 2-hours including return travel time to our Base, homes and places of work. In addition to our call-out officer, 15 Team members were involved or en route at the time that they were stood-down.
