Two Team members recently attended a ‘technical rope rescue’ instructor’s course provided by Mountain Rescue England and Wales and held in the Yorkshire Dales, partly at Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team base. The course was spread over two weekends. Well done to Jenny & Louis, both very experienced climbers, for passing their assessments. Louis is the Team’s lead-officer for technical rope rescue work. The timing was ideal as the Team has now embarked upon a Spring / Summer training programme covering this aspect of our rescue work.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
