Sunday 30th April 2350: Search Eston Hills.
We were alerted by Cleveland Police to help search for a missing vulnerable 54 year old Middlesbrough man who had been missing from his home since Saturday lunchtime. The team deployed from Flatts lane and searched the open space at the foot of Eston Hills.
The missing man was located just before 0400hrs by a search dog team who were walking into one of their search areas. He was treated at the scene by team members before being handed over to the ambulance service for transport to James Cooke Hospital.
A good find by the team, many of whom had been involved in walking the 24 miles of the fund raising Whalebones walk or cycling on the sponsored Masham ride that day.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
