Rescue – Roseberry Topping

We were called at around 11.45am direct by a local farmer to report that a lady had slipped on Roseberry Topping and needed our assistance. A Team Rescue Land Rover was immediately dispatched and other Team Members were asked to meet at Aireyholme Farm. The farmer was on scene with the injured lady and after discussions with him, the Land Rover (with assistance from his tractor!) made its way across the wet fields to the Shooting Box close to where the lady was located.

Other Team Members and the Yorkshire Ambulance Service Paramedic made their way to the accident site on foot. Team members and the Paramedic treated the lady for her injury, she was placed in our Casualty Bag to warm her up and was then carried up to our Land Rover using our Bell Stretcher. She was then transported in our Rescue Land Rover down to Aireyholme Farm where she was transferred to the YAS Road Ambulance.

We wish her well for a speedy recovery.

Many thanks to everyone at Aireyholme Farm for providing initial help to the lady, for allowing us access through their farm and for the assistance of the tractor to get our Land Rover up the very wet sheep field.

16 Team Members were involved on the hill with the rescue with two others co-ordinating the incident from home. The incident lasted 1.5 hours with a further 1 hour back at base to sort the damp and muddy equipment and vehicle and decontaminate.
