MONDAY 20TH SEPTEMBER 2021 (1409 HOURS)
We were contacted during the afternoon by North Yorkshire Police and the Yorkshire Ambulance Service with reports that a man out walking with his friends on the North York Moors, near Hawnby, had been taken ill and was unable to continuing walking. Two Team Land Rovers and a number of our members were called out and directed to the area.
Shortly before our first personnel arrived on scene (approximately 1-mile north of Hawnby), a Yorkshire Air Ambulance crew landed and assessed the casualty before getting him into the helicopter. He was then flown a short distance to a waiting Yorkshire Ambulance Service land ambulance to be driven to hospital for further treatment. We wish him well for his recovery.
At that point we were able to stand-down and return to our homes and places of work. Eleven Team members were on scene with others en route prior to being stood-down. The incident lasted approximately 1.25 hours plus return travel time. Many thanks to everyone at Nova Scotia Farm for access to the area.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
