MONDAY 24TH MAY 2021 (1253 HOURS)
Whilst en route to the earlier call-out 32/2021 some of our Team members were diverted to this separate incident which fortunately was reasonably close to the original one. A 20-year-old woman had fallen from a horse on some gallops approximately 500m north-east of Sutton Bank and was suffering from back and pelvic pain.
She was treated at the scene by Team members including being provided with pain relief. In view of her potential injuries an air ambulance was requested. Fairly soon a Yorkshire Air Ambulance arrived and the casualty was loaded into the helicopter allowing some of our Team members to travel onto the the original call-out.
Nine Team members were involved in this incident at various times supported by our call-out officer co-ordinating things remotely. It lasted for approximately 1-hour.
We wish both women well with their recoveries.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
