Rescue – Reed’s Wood, Guisborough

SUNDAY 23RD MAY 2021 (1458 HOURS)

We were contacted during the afternoon by the North East Ambulance Service to assist them with a report of a 17-year-old male who had collapsed in Reed’s Wood near Guisborough. His exact location was not known.

Team members were alerted and asked to attend an RV-point near to Hutton village. One Team member who had been walking in the area was quickly able to locate the casualty and relay the location to her colleagues. She also carried out a casualty care assessment whilst waiting for assistance. Other Team members soon arrived on scene and the casualty was then transported in a Team Land Rover back to the RV-point and handed over to the waiting ambulance crew.

Eighteen Team members were involved or en route when stood-down plus one co-ordinating our response remotely. The incident lasted approximately 1.25 hours plus additional time to return home and to Base (where decontamination of the vehicles and equipment was also necessary).
