TUESDAY 23RD FEBRUARY 2021
At around 1800 hours we were contacted about two women who had walked up towards the summit of Roseberry Topping but felt unsafe descending in the high winds that were prevalent throughout the day.
Our Call-out Officer was able to contact the women by phone in order to reassure them and to confirm their location which was believed to be below the summit. A decision was made to undertake a limited deployment by sending a small party of Team members to escort them back down the hill.
Our volunteer Team members soon located one of the women near to the shooting lodge on land below Roseberry Topping. A few minutes later we located the other one and then they were both walked down to Newton car-park to continue their journey, safe and well.
Five Team members were deployed on the call-out which lasted for approximately 1.5 hours.

Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
