The Team was on standby overnight (Friday 22nd January 2021, into Saturday morning) to support Scarborough and Ryedale Mountain Rescue Team and their partner agencies with a flooding incident at Norton near Malton.
We had identified a Water Response Team consisting of 13 Team members to deploy across to Norton if necessary. Thankfully we were not needed as the flooding was contained thanks to the efforts of the local MRT and their partner agencies. Well done to our Scarborough & Ryedale MRT colleagues (who have already had a busy January with call-outs) and to everyone else involved at Norton.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
