Ambulance Assistance – Ainthorpe

FRIDAY 15TH JANUARY 2021

The Yorkshire Ambulance Service contacted us at 1636 hours requesting assistance at Ainthorpe, where an ambulance crew were attending to a woman who had sustained a hip injury. We were asked to move the casualty from a house approximately 200 metres along an icy, uphill driveway to the ambulance which had to be left at the roadside owing to the weather conditions. 

A decision was taken to deploy a limited number of Team members together with one of our Land Rover ambulances. Upon we carried the casualty on one of our specialist mountain rescue stretchers to the waiting ambulance for onward transport to hospital for treatment. We wish her all the best for her recovery.

Six Team members were deployed on the incident plus one other co-ordinating our response remotely. In addition a further 14 of our volunteers were available if required for the incident which lasted just over 1.5 hours plus additional travelling time to return to our Base and homes.
