As with many charities our normal fundraising activities are at a virtual standstill due to the COVID-19 restrictions. By now we should have attended eight significant fundraising events this year (with others provisionally scheduled) but the majority of these had to be cancelled leading to a significant funding shortfall for the Team.
Local funding bodies have responded positively to our funding applications and we have already reported on some of these. We are pleased to announce that in the last few weeks we have now received the following additional grants:
£500 from Middlesbrough and Teesside Philanthropic Foundation – Emergency Fund. They also donated a large amount of PPE to help keep our volunteers keep safe during call-outs.
£1,000 from Tees Valley Community Foundation – Covid-19 Relief Fund
£2,000 from County Durham Community Foundation – Covid-19 Relief Fund
Many, many thanks to all of them for these grants which will help us cover some of our core running costs, enable us to maintain our community support work and to respond to emergency call-outs over the next few months.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
