We’ve previously mentioned (News – 31st Oct 2020) that the Team has been awarded almost £11,000 from the Co-op Community Fund. This amount was raised by Co-op members via their spending at many Co-op stores across our area. Today three of our volunteers – Alison, Ken and Mike were at just one of those stores, in Stokesley, to receive a cheque for £10,991.37p!
Steven Lee, the Stokesley Co-op Duty Manager, was on hand to present the cheque at the store. He paid tribute to the work of the Team and to the Co-op members who have so generously backed our cause over 12-months.
Eileen Driver, Co-op National Members Council, said ‘It is tremendous for communities to have received almost £11,000 for the heroic Mountain Rescue Team. The Co-op is a terrific business model for our community.’
Mike Gallagher, the Team’s lead officer for Water & Flood Rescues, said ‘This is a massive and very welcome donation and on behalf of everyone at Cleveland Mountain Rescue a big thank you to everyone at the Co-op Community Fund and the many members at a range of stores across our area who chose us as their nominated charity. The Co-op donation is being used to support our Water and Flood Rescue training which is a significant and costly commitment.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
