Newton Woods

Thursday 10th September 2020. Our third call-out in the space of three days. Shortly after 4pm we were asked to assist the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) with a report of a man having been taken ill in Newton Woods, near Great Ayton. Team members were alerted but upon the arrival of our first vehicle the man was already being assisted into an ambulance by the NEAS crew.

Great credit goes to members of a walking party who initially assisted the man and called for help. When NEAS paramedics arrived the man wasn’t far from the top of Newton Lane (which leads to the steps below Roseberry Topping) so they managed to get him to the ambulance without our assistance. Team members at the scene were thanked by friends of the gentleman and the walking party for our prompt response.

13 Team members either attended or were in the process of deploying at the point of being stood-down (plus one other co-ordinating the response remotely). The total time involved was less than 30-minutes.
