Saturday 27th June 2020. We were called by the Yorkshire Ambulance Service at 2.45pm to assist with the rescue of a 29-year old woman from Guisborough, who had fallen and sustained arm, neck and head injuries whilst walking near to Wainstones on the Cleveland Way.
Team members attended the RV-point at Clay Bank carpark together with an ambulance crew. By then the information was that the injured woman was making her way to the carpark assisted by other walkers. Some Team members were deployed to meet them on the way down to the carpark where they arrived shortly afterwards. She was then treated by the ambulance crew before being taken to hospital for further assessment & treatment. 20 Team members attended the call-out which lasted just over one-hour (with two others co-ordinating the response remotely).
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
