Saturday 23rd May 2020. We were contacted by Cleveland Police just before 7pm to search for a woman who had gone missing from Marske; with concerns for her safety. A number of our volunteer Team members were called out and two Team Land Rovers were deployed. Operating under our strict COVID-19 procedures, they were allocated in small groups to search Errington Wood, near New Marske. Other Team members were on standby if required.
After covering the areas requested by the Police we were stood-down shortly after 11pm. Most members were then able to go home with others returning the two Team Land Rovers to our Base where both vehicles underwent a decontamination process. Police enquiries to find the woman are continuing. 18 Team members (plus others on standby) were involved in the incident which lasted just over four hours.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
