Wednesday 15th April 2020. We were contacted by Cleveland Police at approximately 3am to assist in searching for a man who had gone missing in the Middlesbrough area. Technology was used remotely to help plan the search but obviously it was necessary to call people out from their homes whilst ensuring they could work safely. Volunteer Team members, operating under our COVID-19 procedures, were deployed to search a limited area near to North Ormesby. After covering the areas requested by the Police we were stood-down pending any requests to cover other search areas. 12 Team members (plus others on standby) were involved in the incident which lasted for approximately 5 hours.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
