Sunday 5th April 2020. We were contacted by Cleveland Police at midday to assist in a search for a man who had gone missing. Team members, operating under our COVID-19 procedures, were deployed to search the Eston Hills area. Working with Police air support, they were also joined by a search dog and handler from Swaledale MRT. Shortly after being stood-down for the evening a Team member, who was travelling home, spotted the man outside of the designated search area. The Police were contacted and dealt with him from that point. 11 Team members were involved for approximately 6.5 hours.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
