Another day another callout! Call out 14 of the year, occurred at 15:30hrs on Sunday 19th February. Again we were asked to assist with a walker who had slipped on a muddy path and who had sustained lower leg injuries.
This time we responded to Coxwold, on the extreme southern boundary of our area, to help an 81 year old man from Malton who had fallen whilst walking with his family. Paramedics from the Yorkshire Ambulance Service had stabilised the man’s injury but they required our manpower and specialised stretcher to evacuate him the 400m across farmland to the waiting ambulance.
Twelve team members responded to the callout that lasted around 90 minutes.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
