Callout number 9 came at 1200 on Wednesday 1st February. North Yorkshire Police asked us to continue in the search for the 53 year old man missing in the Hawnby area (callout 8).
18 of Cleveland Team responded to the callout along with search dog Bonnie and Jake. We also asked one of our neighbouring teams,RAF Leeming for assistance and they turned up with a team of 13.
All the tracks and many of the wooded areas in an area 3 kilometres across were searched during the afternoon without success. After discussions with the Police they decided to scale back the large scale search and we stood down at 1700hrs.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
