This morning the Team were called to support a search by Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team for a missing local man from Kirkby Fleetham west of Northallerton.
We joined North Yorkshire Police search teams, the NPAS Police helicopter, Search And Rescue Dog Association England Mountain Rescue search dogs and Royal Air Force Leeming MR.
Late in the afternoon, after a long hot search of local farmland, coppices and out-buildings and a few memorable encounters with prolific nettles and thistles, the missing person was located safe by the Police outside the search area. A good result.
We were then able to stand down the additional team personnel who were on their way to potentially continue the search.
The Black Horse Inn hosted our search and control vehicles – many thanks for the use of your car Park.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
