We were again working with Scarborough and Ryedale MRT continuing the search for the missing farmer from the Dalton area near Thirsk.
In today’s search around 13km of the River Swale was searched along with many acres of woodland in the vicinity of the missing man’s farm.
Five mountain rescue teams and several members of North Yorkshire Police were involved today for around seven hours. The teams involved (Scarborough and Ryedale MRT, Cleveland MRT, RAF Leeming MRT, Upper wharfdale FRT and Swaledale MRT) supplied over 50 volunteer searchers.
As the search was finishing for the night the Police learnt of a possible sighting of the man in York.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
