Thursday March 1st 1530.
We received another request from NEAS to again go to East Cleveland to assist with a man whose condition was causing concern. Again due to the weather conditions paramedics were finding reaching the patient tricky.
As we were on route we learnt that ambulance paramedics had reached the man and we could possibly stand down. The crew of the Discovery, who were still in the East Cleveland area, liaised with the paramedics and confirmed that we weren’t needed.
The crew did come across our last incident of the day when they found a car stuck in a snow drift on the Castleton Road. After attempt to free the vehicle they found it unmovable and, after informing the Police of the stuck vehicle, they transported the driver to his home near Danby.
All in all a very busy day in appalling weather conditions.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
