Wednesday 23 Sept (1940hrs)
As the team were starting the annual technical/steep ground awareness session at the base, a call out came in from North Yorkshire Police (NYP). They were requesting assistance in the search for a high risk missing person in the area around Yorkshire Gliding Club at Sutton Bank. The team deployed all 4 vehicles including full technical equipment and others in their own vehicles to the RV at the Gliding Club. As the team were starting to arrive, we were informed the Police had located the person close to the RV.. The team provided the required medical assistance. The person was able to walk from the find location to the nearby car park.
29 members were involved for 2 hours.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.

CALL OUT 50/2026
Thursday 24 Sept (1610 hrs)
Not long after finishing the call out in the east of the region, the team were contacted by North Yorkshire Police (NYP) for the third call out within 24 hours.. The force requested the team to search for an elderly person who had become lost and exhausted around the area of Cleveland Way in the vicinity of Faceby/Carlton. Both Land Rovers and team members headed to the RV at Sutton Arms, Faceby. Personnel and vehicles headed south of the village to search the footpaths and forest tracks in the area of Faceby plantation. During this phase of the search the call out officer maintained phone contact with the person. Soon later, one search party located the person in the plantation. A team medic assessed the person and then he was driven back to Faceby.
Later, the persons family collected him.
