Wildfire Exercise with NY Fire and Rescue

Recently, Cleveland MRT took part in an exercise , Red Pheasant. organised by North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service (NYFRS) in the area around Osmotherley Moor. The exercise  was designed to give the Wild Fire Officers of NYFRS the practical opportunity  to provide advice for a wildfire incident . 

During the exercise, Cleveland MRT drones were used to provide a view over the moorland. If there had actually been a fire, the team  would have been able to map out the area on fire. They could scan from the drone for people on the paths and on the moorland, both by thermal imaging and photography. By Land Rover ,the team made a visit to check out a potential campsite that was in the path of the approaching (pretend) fire. The team  were ready to post notices to keep the public safe and transport a high volume hose reel from the edge of the fire ground to a water source.

A very good learning opportunity for Cleveland MRT along  with identifying the  roles the team can perform to assist the Fire and Rescue Service. 

Along with the team attending the event, also present were wildfire officers, wildfire tactical advisor for national resilience, High Volume Pump tactical advisor for national resilience and head gamekeeper for Snilesworth Estate.
