Saturday 27th June (2150hrs)
A few hours after the end of the session in the south west of our region, Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) contacted the team to provide assistance with the rescue of an injured trail bike rider on Ingelby Incline. The team were mobilised with both Land Rovers and others in their own vehicles to Bank Foot. From there all team members were transferred to the casualty site near the top of the Incline. The person was treated by both the ambulance crew and a team medic for lower limb injuries. Once stabilised he was placed into a vacuum mattress then into the casualty bag on the mountain rescue stretcher for the short walk to one of the Land Rovers which had been stripped to allow the stretcher to be loaded. The person was transferred back to Bank Foot in the Land Rover for transfer to the ambulance and forward transfer to hospital.
We wish the person a full and speedy recovery.
The two people with the injured person had attempted to self rescue from their location but due to the terrain they had been unsuccessful. If in need of emergency assistance please do not hesitate to phone 999 and request Police then Mountain Rescue.
17 team members were involved for approximately 3.5 hours.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
