The team were alerted by North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) to an injured mountain bike rider who has sustained a lower leg injury and was unable to stand up.
The team dispatched both Land Rovers to Flatts Lane with the casualty located within the Country Park. While en route, the paramedics arrived at the casualty and confirmed they required our assistance to transfer the person approx 500m to the ambulance. The first Land Rover to arrive on scene proceeded past the parked ambulance to the casualty site.
At the site, the person was treated by the paramedics for a lower leg injury and then loaded into the casualty bag on the mountain rescue stretcher. The stretcher was wheeled the 500m to the waiting ambulance.
We wish the person a speedy recovery
