Both Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) and North Yorkshire Police (NYP) contacted the team about an injured off road biker who had sustained injuries near to Bloworth Crossing. YAS informed the team that Helimed were en route. The team deployed both Land Rovers ,along with other team members to Bank Foot Farm.
As team members were arriving at Bank Foot, the team were informed that the casualty had been loaded into the air ambulance and was being transferred to hospital.
You may be wondering why the team were dispatched when they knew Helimed was en route. The team still deploys as there is the possibility Helimed could be re assigned, the casualty’s injuries do not require air transfer and conditions/terrain may not be suitable for landing in the vicinity of the casualty site.
We wish the casualty a speedy recovery
16 team members were involved for up to 2 hours
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
