SATURDAY 3rd Jan (1610hrs)
The team were contacted by North Yorkshire Police about a car stuck in the valley of a road in the Westerdale area with a number of occupants in the vehicle. A limited deployment was initiated with both Land Rovers being double crewed. As the team members were preparing the vehicles to leave the base, we received notification that the occupants had been rescued by a passer by in a 4×4 vehicle and taken to a safe location.
5 team members were involved for approx 30 minutes , with another 14 members available on standby.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
