Search at Great Langton

Day 1 : Saturday 1st November (1625)

Day 2: Sunday 2nd November (0900)

Over the weekend , the team assisted our neighbouring team, Swaledale MRT, in the search for a missing person in the vicinity of River Swale at Great Langton. On Saturday the team deployed the water equipment of 2 rafts, to search one river bank area with Swaledale covering the other bank. A land group consisting of members from both teams searched high priority areas in the vicinity of the river. On completions of these tasked areas, the teams stood down around 10pm for the night, to continue the following morning.

On Sunday , the planned tasks were split between “wet” and “dry” areas. Swaledale covered the “wet” tasks on the river and Cleveland the “dry” tasks in the nearby woodlands. Sadly, a body was recovered from the river in early afternoon.

Our thoughts are with the person’s family at this difficult time.

On Saturday, 15 members were involved for approx. 6.5 hours

On Sunday, 6 members were involved for approx. 6 hours
