MONDAY 13th Oct (1430hrs)
Following a request from Yorkshire Ambulance Service to provide assistance for an injured mountain biker at Hood Hill near Kilburn. The team despatched both Land Rovers along with other team members in their own vehicles to car park at Hood Hill. From the RV, members either walked or were transported by the Rovers to the casualty site . At the site the injured person was provided with appropriate pain relief before being transferred to a vacuum mattress and then the rescue stretcher. The stretcher was walked the short distance to the emptied, prepared Land Rover. The casualty was driven the 800m to the waiting ambulance in the car park. Once the casualty had been handed over to the ambulance crew, the vehicle returned to the casualty site to be reloaded with the equipment which had been removed..
We wish the casualty a full and rapid recovery and hope they are back out on the mountain bike in the near future.
17 team members were involved for approximately 3 hours
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
