SUNDAY 12th Oct (1005hrs)
The team were contacted by both Yorkshire Police and Yorkshire Ambulance Service about an injured mountain biker in Boltby area. With a number of the team present at Lordstones attending the Viking Chase, a quick reassessment of the manning levels required to support the event allowed the Mercedes Benz V4 vehicle and 3 people to leave for the call out. Meanwhile, the other Land Rover was manned and left the base along with other members in their own vehicles for the RV at top of Sneck Yate Bank. From the RV, a few team members started to walk to the casualty site. V4 drove towards the site which had picked up the road crew from Yorkshire Air Ambulance . As they approached the site, the injured person was able to walk towards them with assistance from the road ambulance crew. The team members in V4 got out to allow the casualty and the ambulance crew to be transported to the road ambulance on the bank.
We wish the casualty a full and rapid recovery and hope they are back out in the near future
15 team members were involved for approximately 2 hours
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
