On Saturday, 30th August, the team held an open day for founder members and those in the team in the earliest days to celebrate the team’s 60th anniversary. The day consisted of short presentations highlighting the new capabilities of the team. Afterwards, there was a walk around the base to view the equipment used by the team for technical and water rescues along with viewing the vehicles. It was great to see those ex members and their interest in what the team is doing today.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.

WEDNESDAY TRAINING
The training exercise, was the rescue of a walker who had fallen in Bousdale Wood at Pinchinthorpe. Autumn is here, headtorches were required and it rained.
The person was located on steep ground by the first party. On medical examination the casualty was found to have a severe pain around neck /upper back region and an injured wrist. As other personnel arrived with the requested equipment, the casualty was treated and placed into a vacuum mattress on the rescue stretcher. Due to the steep ground a technical rescue was undertaken with 2 back up ropes to sledge the stretcher approximately 60m down to the track. On the track, the wheels applied to the stretcher for the walk back to the walkway car park. Thanks to Mary from the support team for being the casualty in a good scenario.
A few other members attended a mental health event covering suicide prevention in Middlesbrough
Wednesday was the first night for the six new prospective members. They will be undertaking an induction programme of events up to Christmas.
