SUNDAY 24 AUG (1815 hours)
North Yorkshire Police contacted the team requesting assistance in the search for a vulnerable missing person in the Appleton Wiske area. The person had been missing from home since Sunday morning. The team deployed one Land Rover and the Incident Control vehicle along with the available people to Appleton Wiske. Based on information supplied by the Police, team members in various vehicles deployed to search the fields around Deighton . Not long after the searches had begun, we were informed the person had been found safe and well outwith our search areas.
A total of 14 team members were involved for approximately 2.5 hours
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
