MONDAY 04 AUGUST (1500hrs)
The team were contacted by our neighbouring team Scarborough and Ryedale MRT to assist with a search for a missing person around Blakey Ridge covering both of our teams areas. Both Land Rovers and the Incident Control vehicles were deployed to Lion Inn at Blakey. One Rover, travelled across the moors via Rudland Rigg and the old railway to The Lion with no sighting of the person. From the Inn, a party was deployed to search an area to west and north. As further personnel were preparing to deploy, North Yorkshire Police indicated they had a possible location for the person. This was later confirmed and all members were stood down.
18 team members were involved for approx 4 hours
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
