SATURDAY 02 AUGUST (1000hrs)
North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) requested the team to attend to a person who had collapsed on Roseberry Topping .The team deployed the first Rover as soon as personnel was available to Aireyholme Farm, the other Rover soon followed along with members in their own vehicles. Both Rovers travelled up the lane transferring personnel to the col who then walked to the casualty site with the required equipment.
Great work by the NEAS and Great North Air Ambulance Servce (GNAAS) crews stabilised the casualty to allow the person to be loaded onto the rescue stretcher and transferred the few hundred metres downhill to the air ambulance, for transfer to hospital.
Thank you to Mark and Kath at Aireyholme Farm for the us’e of the farm yard and access to Roseberry via their land, once again.
16 team members were involved for approx 2 hours
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.

Wednesday was a busy day for the team which did not involve a call out.
During the day a number of operational and support members attended Danby show. A very hot but enjoyable day.
In the evening, the operational members were involved in a training scenario in the Captain Cook monument area. The initial report was of an unresponsive casualty and another person stuck on a crag.in the same area. The exercise required the casualty to be treated for a significant trauma injury and packaged on the stretcher ready for air lift off the hill. The other person was successfully removed from the crag using a harness rescue by members of the technical rope group..
A good training exercise on a good evening. Thanks to Mary, a support member, who acted as the casualty.
