Dog Rescue – Near Square Corner

FRIDAY 18th JULY (1930hrs)

FIRST OF YEAR – ANIMAL RESCUE

The team were requested by North Yorkshire Police to assist a small group with an elderly dog south of Square Corner near Osmotherley. The dog had stopped walking and had been stationary for 30 minutes. With no people injured, a limited deployment was undertaken with one crewed Land Rover along with other members who were in close vicinity to Square Corner.

At Square Corner, the Land Rover proceeded south to the location of the party on the Cleveland Way close to the summit of Black Hambleton. A hill party also proceeded to the location on foot. At the find site the dog and owner were loaded into the Rover and transferred back to Square Corner, with the hill party returning on foot in heavy rain.

Hopefully the dog makes a full recovery.

Not many people are aware that our rescue service is for animals as well as humans

9 team members were directly involved, with others on standby in case required, for approx 2 hours
